Got a little good news recently that I’d like to share. Our new short “Dead Sucks” is an official selection of this year’s Horror UK Film & Literary Festival set to run this October over Halloween weekend as part of the “28 Hours Later Horror Marathon”. More info can be found at: horroruk.com.
I’m pleased to announce we’ve officially begun casting for our next feature film, and we’re seeking committed non-union actors and actresses for lead and supporting roles. Designed to be the first in a series of psychological thrillers, the script is dialogue/character driven and includes some nudity and violence. Please read the individual character breakdowns for more specific requirements.
**Please note, if a character breakdown lists nudity as a requirement and you are not comfortable with this, then please do not apply for that role.**
Payment for most roles is lo/no/deferred. You will receive copy, credit, transport and meals. We are in the process of seeking additional financing so we can hopefully be able to pay our actors at least reasonable rates for their time. Please keep in mind we’re all working pro bono right now in an effort to put as much of our limited budget on screen, so if your primary goal is monetary this project probably isn’t for you.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWNS:
1. Male (lead) / 30-35 yrs. / Caucasian.
TOM: Husband to Lily and father to Katie, despite his somewhat idyllic life and his great love for his family, he feels stagnant and unfulfilled in his job, his marriage and his waning friendship with his once best friend Dan. Role requires some nudity, simulated sex and depiction of violence.
2. Male (lead) / 30-35 yrs. / Caucasian.
DAN: Tom’s best friend since childhood. He is desperately trying to hang onto their friendship and his memories of happier times any way he can. Role requires some nudity, simulated sex and depiction of violence.
3. Female (supporting lead) / 25-30 yrs. / Caucasian.
LILY: Mother to Katie and wife to Tom, she finds herself increasingly distanced from her husband and struggles to maintain a family balance that is shifting steadily out of her control. Role requires some nudity, simulated sex and depiction of violence.
4. Female (supporting lead) / 30-40 yrs. / Any Ethnicity.
SALLY: A waitress at the diner Tom & Dan go to regularly for lunch, she’s been around the block, but lost none of her charm. Role requires some nudity, simulated sex, and depictions of graphic violence.
5. Female (supporting) / 20-25yrs. / Any Ethnicity.
EVE: Sarcastic, punkish waitress at the diner that Tom & Dan frequent. Tattoos and piercings welcome;)
6. Female (supporting) / 6-10 yrs. / Caucasian.
KATIE: Tom & Lily’s daughter, she is a sweet, energetic little ball of excitement and curiosity who loves to play with dogs and adores her father. Role requires some minimal depiction of violence (using makeup, props/wardrobe - implied violence only).

I’m pleased to announce that DEAD SUCKS our newest short film will be making its world premiere at Philadelphia’s Backseat Film Festival this Saturday, March 14th. The film, about a sleep-deprived, loser vampire is written and directed by yours truly, and is intended as the introduction to a feature-length film of the same name for which we’re currently seeking additional funding. The “Dead Sucks” short introduces Burt, a wayward vampire with a messy past, an uncertain future and a disproportionate need for sleep. Rejected by both humans and his own kind, he searches to find his place in a world where the only thing that sucks more than being alive is being dead.
Myself and some of the cast/crew plan to be in attendance. I’m especially psyched to be sharing the day with the director Adam Rifkin who will be presenting his new film as well as the cult classic “The Dark Backward” in the evening.
Also, I’d like to mention that many collaborators from “Dead Sucks” and our prior horror anthology “LovecraCked! The Movie” will be screening new shorts in the same program, most of which I have had the pleasure of seeing already, and trust me when I say they are all very much worth checking out. Look for “Heading Home” by Jane Rose, “A Clown Carol” by Brian Bernhard, “Cottonmouth” by Chris Garetano, and “Even” by Ben Jurin.

Well, it’s official, the “Dead Sucks” short (comprised of the first 7 pages of the original feature-length script) has now been completed! Coming in at a modest 9 minutes including credits, it introduces the main character Burt and his general plight. As I’m currently submitting the flick to fests and cons it won’t yet be available to view online until the results are in and any screenings we are lucky enough to get have passed. As soon as there are any screening dates/locations I’ll be sure to announce them. In the mean time stop on by www.deadsucks.com and check out the new poster art on the main page.
