GUT score complete

July 28th, 2011 . by Elias

I’m happy to announce that our composer Chvad SB’s original score for GUT is now complete and being mixed into the film as we speak. The ability of music in film to underscore and help push through the emotion of a moment is extremely significant. Right from the start Chvad’s sense of the film’s story and the characters was dead-on and I was always sure that whatever he’d produce would be just what was called for. I was very happy with how GUT turned out, but watching it for the first time with the score, really put a smile on my face. The tension is more palpable than ever, whether it’s scenes now accompanied by music or simply quiet ones in between. Check out Chvad’s wrap-up blog entry on the scoring the film, it’s quite an insightful article:

GUT final mix approaches, 1st fest submission, new script

July 22nd, 2011 . by Elias

I hope you’re all surviving the record heat waves. Thanks to a regular dose of reconditioned air, I have remained quite busy in recent weeks. Our film GUT is on the verge of a final mix and in honor of this I’ve made an initial submission to a really great festival. I’ll have more news on this front soon hopefully – keep your fingers crossed for us in the meantime! Put together a pretty sweet EPK (electronic press kit) for the submission. You can check out the first page below…

And now on to 8.1. It’s not a star date (at least as far as I know), but rather the latest draft I’ve written of the script known for the moment simply as “DK”. It’s the first screenplay I’ve written where the main character is a woman and she’s in a very dark place in her life. Unfortunately, I can’t tell you any more about it yet as it’s still in the early stages of pre-production, but there should be more news soon (including the official title;) as the producers draw closer to securing financing. As I mentioned a while ago, my good friend Nick Basile will be directing it.

Also, please keep an eye out for a few shorts I lent a hand on a while back: FRANKIE, CASUALITY and COLD. They should all be hitting festivals soon.

That’s all she wrote for the moment. More soon!
