2010…

January 30th, 2010 . by Elias

Greetings and salutations! 2009 was a busy and productive year, and 2010 shows no signs of slowing down either. Monday January 25th marked the wrap of our SFX unit shoot for our new feature film “GUT”. I will now be burying myself in the process of cutting so you’ll be able to see the film as soon as possible. Look for an official “GUT” website and trailer very soon!

Our suicidal lil’ vampire short, “Dead Sucks”, continues to make the rounds at fests and will premiere online soon as well.

In related news, my friend Tom just completed a short mockumentary named “With Anchovies… Without Mamma”, which I co-produced, edited and acted in, and it’s been kicking ass and taking names with the Audience Choice Award at the 2009 CMJ Film Fest and two more nominations at the upcoming Treasure Coast International Film Festival. You can check out a trailer for the project at it’s official site withoutmammafilm.com or on Vimeo below…

Last but not least, BiFF’s 2006 experimental amalgamation of Lovecraftian weirdness, “LovecraCked! The Movie”, is waiting in the wings with an extended, remastered DVD cut featuring new bonus materials and a commentary track that will make your brain bleed. Look for it in the not too distant future at many online retailers and Netflix.

Wishing you all the best in 2010! More soon!

DEAD SUCKS World Premiere!

March 9th, 2009 . by Elias

I’m pleased to announce that DEAD SUCKS our newest short film will be making its world premiere at Philadelphia’s Backseat Film Festival this Saturday, March 14th. The film, about a sleep-deprived, loser vampire is written and directed by yours truly, and is intended as the introduction to a feature-length film of the same name for which we’re currently seeking additional funding. You can see a trailer and find out more about the project at deadsucks.com.

The “Dead Sucks” short introduces Burt, a wayward vampire with a messy past, an uncertain future and a disproportionate need for sleep. Rejected by both humans and his own kind, he searches to find his place in a world where the only thing that sucks more than being alive is being dead.

Myself and some of the cast/crew plan to be in attendance. I’m especially psyched to be sharing the day with the director Adam Rifkin who will be presenting his new film as well as the cult classic “The Dark Backward” in the evening.

Also, I’d like to mention that many collaborators from “Dead Sucks” and our prior horror anthology “LovecraCked! The Movie” will be screening new shorts in the same program, most of which I have had the pleasure of seeing already, and trust me when I say they are all very much worth checking out. Look for “Heading Home” by Jane Rose, “A Clown Carol” by Brian Bernhard, “Cottonmouth” by Chris Garetano, and “Even” by Ben Jurin.

Check out a trailer for the Backseat Film Festival ‘09. See if you can figure out which clips are from “Dead Sucks”…

That’s all for now. Stay tuned for more news on “Dead Sucks” and other projects in the works, and don’t be a stranger. Hope to see some of you this Sat in Philly’s Backseat!

Screening Room Addition

April 2nd, 2008 . by Elias

Just added a little known BiFF flick by the name of “Fruit” to the Video section of the site. You’ll find it under the “shorts” category. Clocking in at about 3 min, this little oddity is probably the closest I’ve ever come to making an “art film”, so enjoy;-) This version features music by friend and collaborator Chvad SB of things outside the skin.

“Fruit” was shot one day in 1998 with the help and support of Kevin Flora and Ryan Johnston, and yes the naked painted guy pictured above is me;-)
